Township of Carling

Website Redesign

Project scope.

  • Web Design
  • Creative Direction
  • User Experience (UX) Journey Mapping

The challenge.

The Township of Carling has a genuinely marvellous history and a fantastic team. However, like many townships, they suffer from an online presence that had become obsolete and did not allow them to engage with their community, businesses and tourists. The Township of Carling website was hosted with a Joomla CMS and needed an update to meet AODA and WCAG compliance and reach its community. With the need for a new website, AODA compliance and a branding refresh, our team got to work.

The results.

  • 272,000+ page views/year in 2023
  • Increase SEO ranking via Google Analytics
  • Enhanced mobile experience of email open rate & conversion rate
  • Email open rates of 38%+ (12% higher than industry standards)
  • Brand alignment of the logo, corporate colours and digital assets
  • 450,000+ Google Impressions/year in 2023

The timeline.

  • 11/2019 – Currently on retainer

How we helped.

Stradea migrated the Joomla site into a WordPress platform and got to work. During our discovery sessions, we discussed the wants and needs of the Carling staff and developed an entirely new online presence for the Carling team.

Our build focused on user experience, WCAG best-practices, and leveraging on-page SEO, which hadn’t been done in the previous site.

Our mobile-first approach allowed a unique experience for users via mobile, tablet, and desktop devices. The project included a complete web design overhaul, brand logo and style guide updates and in-person training sessions to ensure the teams knew how to manage the site once completed.

From the client.

Stradea was commissioned to redevelop the website for the Township of Carling. In this project, Hugo and his team took an iterative approach to the branding, design and content development of the site. The website launched in March 2020, during the start of COVID. Hugo stayed on through COVID (for free) to support our municipality through one of the most difficult moments in our history. Such an amazing partner to work with.

He stayed onboard and assisted the Township with post-COVID messaging and support services, to ensure they had everything they needed in the for success. He also updated content with optimized integrations for communicating with the residents and businesses of Carling. We can’t say enough amazing things about the Stradea team and Hugo.”
